Quelques différences culturelles

Look at the two images below and think about the following questions. Then respond (English is okay) to them in a comment on this post along with a question for me and/or your classmates.
1. Where do you think these two photos were taken?
2. What are some differences and similarities?
3. What do these pictures tell you about the culture of their respective locations?

An Example of French Influence

Did you know that the street plan of our nation's capital, Washington D.C., was designed by a Frenchman? Read the following article by the Smithsonian Magazine: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/brief-history-of-lenfant.html

Then look at the following two maps. The first is one of Paris and the second is of D.C. Do you notice some similarities? Any differences? Post your thoughts in a comment and don't forget to respond to a classmate as well.

French in the Real World

Many people have asked: Why do we study languages and specifically why do we study French?
Below you'll see a few video interviews of people describing how they use French in their everyday lives and careers. Watch at least one of the videos and share any insights you gained from watching it. Remember to pose a question in your post and comment on that of a classmate's.

Welcome to your Blog!

You will be using this page regularly, in and out of class. I will be posting news articles, videos, and short stories along with some questions for you to think about and answer.

You will be required to comment on the original post with your answers to my questions AND you must pose a question to me and your classmates about what you saw or read. Each of you will respond to at least one other person's comment to receive full participation credit, but you are strongly encouraged to respond to multiple people. To read other comments and to post your own, just click on the title of the post.

Sometimes you will be required to respond in French, other times English will be accepted. Refer to the individual posting to determine how your comments should be formulated.
